An Interview with Me
June 30, 2006A local TV station in Foochow made an interview with me half a month ago, about the writing system of Foochowese. They always want my opinions on this or that… Do I really seem a rebellious boy?
Yes, I’m very proud to say that the romanization of Foochowese has a very long history, much longer than the Mandarin Pinyin. Wanna read some books in Foochowese? Ok, check out these links!

For my friends’ interest, I have uploaded the interview video into YouTube. People in the interview mainly talked in Mandarin Chinese but also spoke a little Foochow. Ah please don’t laugh at my dialect accent, because I was brought up in Foochow, not in Peking. I speak Mandarin with the Foochow accent and Foochow with the Mandarin accent… What the hell do I speak?

就怎么没人采访limkianmhui呢?达人一族啊

補充一下,
台語的”媳婦”,也是”新婦” (sim-pū) 喔
You’ve done a good job!

No, I don’t think you speak Mandarin with a strong accent. I think Kianhui’s and my speaking is much more serious, haha…

To khaihiok: “新婦” is a term shared by most southern Chinese languages, including Hokkianese, Taiwanese and Cantonese.
To 葉先秦: speaking Mandarin with a strong accent is not something to feel shameful about. :’)
